Last week was a busy one! First there was a wedding with 13 couples, 11 of them from the Baptist bible school here at Gamboula.
Next came the graduation of the women from their 3 years’ school courses including reading, sewing, bible, and basic home management skills. The local governor came to present their diplomas to them. Their children attended school as well and at the ceremony entertained and impressed us with their memorization and public speaking skills!
Then came the bible school graduation, with each of the men receiving their diploma from the president of the local Baptist church, which runs the school. It was an encouraging time, to see these men and women dedicating themselves to serving God and proclaiming his love.
There was plenty of dancing and smiles and joy following these serious ceremonies. It cheers the soul in the midst of sorrow-filled war times here in this country. Please pray for these new pastors and their families, that they will indeed shine God’s love to all they come in contact with. That they will be honest leaders and that they will keep their eyes on the Lord.
