Back to reality – please continue to pray for C.A.R.

I went from enjoying Josh & Kimia & fam in Indiana in November straight to enjoying Sam & Anna & fam with Roy in Lesotho in December, an almost 2 month absence from Gamboula.  The absence didn’t mean I wasn’t thinking about CAR and didn’t mean I wasn’t still hoping and praying for peace.  We are back now, back amongst friends and colleagues and acquaintances and strangers, joined together in one hope, that CAR can be healed.  Please keep praying with us, as we hope for peace and healing.  We hear that nearly 1/4 of the population, almost 1 million people have been displaced because of this mess.  Almost 1000 people, including women and children, lost their lives during Christmas week. Contrary to initial news reporting, it has not necessarily Christians against Muslims, it seems it has been, basically, civilians now bearing arms against the Sel-ka soldiers who have wreaked such havoc since March of this year, although photos in journal articles just show a people run amok, no matter who.  Please keep praying.   Here are a couple of recent links for you to check out – you’ll probably have to copy and paste (sorry, I don’t know how to put a true clickable link here):

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
