Visiting med students

We recently had 4 young people come to help and learn at our mission hospital. The two guys, Josh and Matt, are med students from Canada, and the couple(recently engaged) are Marshal and Hannah, a pre-med student and nursing student. It was good to have them around, they all fit in so well and did their best to not show shock and repulsion at the myriad nasty smells and sights you run into at a bush hospital. They added a rich cross cultural experience and lots of laughter to many lives here at Gamboula. Two of them had quite a heart breaking experience on a village trip – you can read about their time here at their blogs:

I called them the “kids” from the get go, as they are all actually younger than our own, not quite young enough to call them grandkids! We were so glad to have had them with us for a little bit.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
