We are in Connecticut for a few days, sharing at Woodstock Covenant, and we had the opportunity to sightsee in Boston. It was a busy Saturday, but we had great fun walking on the Freedom Trail. I was especially touched by the Holocaust Memorial – I couldn’t figure out why they had it there at first, but there were a few poignant paragraphs about freedom including this statement: “As you walk this Freedom Trail, pause here to reflect on the consequences of a world in which there is no freedom – a world in which basic human rights are not protected. And know that wherever prejudice, discrimination and victimization are tolerated, evil like the Holocaust can happen again.”
Today we saw different pieces that played parts in our nation’s birthing struggle for freedom, and I was reminded again of the price many have paid for the freedom we enjoy today.
