Kimia and I were picking green beans, and I mentioned that I was leaving some of the smaller ones to grow just a bit more, but that I thought I was probably not seeing all the good sized ones that I needed to pick. Kimia’s response was “they will always outwit you no matter what”. Well, I guess that’s true of those crazy beans, always plotting a way to hide amongst the leaves and stems of the very same color, just so they don’t end up in your tummy! I suppose this example of nature could be used to show some wonderful spiritual truth, like “are you letting some green beans of bitterness or sin grow in hiding because you aren’t looking hard or deep enough” or “are you allowing your green beans of faithfulness to get to full maturity”, but I just got tickled by it. So, watch out for those beans, yes, and even those late season zucchini, because they will get the best of you!
I just made some lickin’ good relish (recipe from Roy’s Grama T YUM!!) with tomatoes from Kimia & Josh’s garden, so I think I at least outwitted those puppies! For those along with us in the midwest, enjoy these late days of summer! For west coasters, you’ve got months of zucchini left, so beware!
