Two weeks ago we had the joy and privilege to host one of our sending churches,
and the church Jenny grew-up in, with a vision trip. Lana, Kyle, and Nate from First Covenant Church Omaha flew down for a few days to explore and learn what missions, ministry, and partnership looks like in Ecuador and how they might possibly join in ministry in the future as a congregation. We logged many miles, notebooks and cameras in tow to visit, encourage, and learn.
We were asked by the IPEE mission committee to focus on visiting ministries and churches in the northern district in the provinces of Imbabura and Carchi. We spent a lot of time in the car discussing almost everything with over 14 hours in the car in a matter of four days together.
The team came well prepared with questions and notebooks, listening to the joys and struggles the various churches and ministries face. We visited Jesus, el Divino Pastor, Betel, Jesus el Salvador en El Angel, La Hermosa, and Divino Pastor Covenant Churches. Each of these churches has a vibrant ministry, working with children, youth, families, and the elderly in a variety of ways. The northern district is where Covenant ministries began, with two of the oldest Covenant churches in the country as well as schools and medical clinics.
We were also able to stop by the Santiago Partnership, which partners with a local church with a medical clinic and a group home for at-risk children. We also were able to stop by a dairy project and worship together at our home church here in Quito.
It was a quick and full trip but so encouraging to have friends to share our life and the people and ministries we care and participate in here.
The group made a nice presentation in our church. Very enthusiastic! Have a good Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Naida
