As you may have heard, Colombia experienced a 7.4 earthquake on Monday morning. This is the largest earthquake in the 21st century. It has affected many different regions and was felt from coast to coast. Reports are of over 200 people killed and the search for survivors is ongoing. We are grateful that our immediate family, friends, pastors, leaders in Covenant churches, staff of the Biblical Seminary are doing well. Medellin felt the strength of the earthquake, but did not experience as much damage as places like Choco, Cali, Pereira, Armenia and Manizales. We have reports of friends who’s family members in these places have lost their lives or who are safe but have lost their homes and belongings. It’s hard to process all of the damage and the images we are seeing. Monday we were on the phone most of the day connecting with people and hearing reports. We are waiting to see the best way to send support in these crucial times. 

We ask for your prayers for the survivors, for those who have literally watched their homes crumble to the ground, for those who are fearful, for those who have lost loved ones, for those in charge of disaster relief, for communities that are finding a way to still look for survivors. We ask for your prayers for Julio and Sam who will be visiting next week (a planned trip), spending time with family and friends.
