After a long day of delays, waiting at airports, and flying on airplanes, we made it to Medellin! We ended up waiting at the Minneapolis airport from 8am-3pm, while the airline found pilots and we were able to fly to Atlanta to make our connection. We landed at 11:45pm and by the time we got through immigration and customs it was about 12:45am. What a wonderful sight to see our friends and coworkers waiting for us! The boys were such amazing travelers and there was almost no complaining despite how tired they were.
How wonderful to wake up the next day, share a yummy breakfast with our friends, and spend some time just relaxing. The boys were busy putting together legos that they had bought before our trip. That afternoon we moved into a temporary apartment and were able to unpack some of our bags. The others will stay in storage until we find a more permanent place to live.
This week has been one of “llegando” (arriving). We’re finding our way around the city again, which has changed in the year we were gone. We even got back out and drove…luckily we haven’t forgotten how to drive stick shift cars. We’ve been visiting some of our favorite places, visiting friends, attending Sunday morning service and reconnecting with our church community, participating in the pastor’s monthly Bible study and prayer time, visiting the boys new school. So much has changed in one week from the time we left Minnesota until today. It’s been fun to watch the boys enjoy familiar foods like arepas and mora juice. We’ve heard often, “Oh I remember this place….oh this soup was my favorite.” We’ve been house/apartment hunting and are praying to get into a more permanent place soon in order to really begin to settle in as a family. We are so thankful for your prayers and ask you to continue to pray for our time of arriving and settling in.
So good to see you gave arrived safely and are enjoying being home again. Your boys are amazing to have gone through such a long. Tiring day with hardly a complaint. They sure look happy on the pics. When does school start for them?
Praying for you and your family, Katie. Would love to see Medellin again someday. On my bucket list.
Blessings to you!
