Oh the places we went

Yesterday I (Katie) arrived back in Minnesota after 12 days of travel. I was accompanying Edith, the President of Colombia Covenant Women’s Ministries, as we were sponsored by women’s ministries from the Great Lakes and Canada Conferences. Thank you to all the women who made this visit possible. Within those 12 days we drove over 1000 miles, saw three of the Great Lakes, visited Niagara Falls, stayed with 6 gracious families, while sharing in churches and a Covenant Retirement home about how God is at work in Colombia. Our travels started in Michigan (Dearborn and Farmington Hills), continued to Ontario (Sarnia and Toronto) and down to Jamestown (New York) back over to Detroit and up to Grand Rapids. We made such great connections with the women we visited in each place.  It was wonderful to hear stories of how God is working in their lives and encourage each other in God’s word. We prayed together, sang together, and played together. While visiting the Covenant Retirement community in Grand Rapids one woman came up and asked to give me a hug. She shared that she has been praying for our family for years. Wow!

After these visits, Edith and I had the opportunity to participate in the Covenant Women’s Triennial event in Kansas City. We gathered with 900 women for a time of learning, worship, and connection. Edith was able to share a bit of her testimony Thursday night as I translated for the participants and then on Friday we led a workshop in Spanish on being disciples who make disciples. We met many women from not only around the USA and Canada, but from South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. I was able to reconnect with many friends and spend some special times of conversation and prayer. The good-byes were tearful, but there was joy in being together.
