Colombia trip!

After a whirlwind 10 days in Colombia we are back in Chicago. It’s amazing how fast our time in Colombia went. We seemed to be running most of the time, but did find some time to stop and enjoy just being with friends and family. We were able to spend a few days in Medellin, where we will be living when we move back to Colombia. It was a great time to connect with other missionaries, pastors and leaders, friends and family, and visit churches. It felt so natural to be there; almost like no time had passed since we last visited. It was great to visit churches and see how the ministries have grown and how new leaders are being formed. One of the church services we went to was lead by the children and was such an awesome reminder of the role that children play in the church. Sam loved watching them play drums and sing!

One of the highlights was celebrating Thanksgiving with other missionaries from the States and Norway, as well as some national leaders. We enjoyed the time to catch up and talk about future ministry plans, as well as to enjoy some really yummy food!

In addition to spending time in Medellin, we traveled to the small town where Julio’s parents and a couple of his brothers live. We had to fly there as there has been major flooding in various parts of Colombia and it simply wasn’t safe to travel by road. We had a wonderful time simply being together as a family and watching our boys interact with their grandparents who they don’t get to see very often! Ben was happy and smiling the whole time. Sam loved playing with his older cousins and didn’t mind the heat (well over 90 degrees). It was great to listen to his Spanish come out and watch his cousins try to figure out what he was saying in English.

We really enjoyed every minute and hated to leave! We are so excited for the future and pray that things come together for us to return to Colombia and serve alongside the church there. Thank you to those of you who have showed your support, both through your prayers and your finances. We are currently looking for people who will partner with us and the ministry in Colombia.
