Last Monday we crawled into our own beds very late after flying back home from a long weekend spent in Santa Marta, Colombia.  We gathered together with all of the Serve Globally personnel serving in Latin America for our first region wide retreat during the time that we have been serving with the ECC.  And it did not disappoint!  I can’t tell you how good it was for us to be together with so many of our colleagues for a couple days of learning, laughing, edifying conversation and needed safe space.  And the beach time wasn’t bad either!  It was both restful and productive and a joy to reconnect with friends we rarely see and also get to know folks we haven’t had the opportunity to meet yet. The Serve Globally staff from Chicago cared for us well and arrived with US snacks in hand – nothing quite like Chex Mix and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to make you feel loved!

I think my favorite part of our time together was watching our kids connect with the other kids.  This MK/Third Culture Kid life isn’t always the easiest and for them to know that they aren’t alone in the struggle is so important.

So grateful for these people and a few precious days spent together!
