CHICAGO, IL (October 25, 2012) – The Spanish-language section of the Evangelical Covenant Church website now accounts for 22 percent of traffic for the denomination’s entire site.

Most of the visits are to the free Bible study curriculum El Pacto Con Dios, which has been receiving more than 50,000 page views a month, says Ben Eash, manager of Interactive Services.

“This amount of online traffic for this free curriculum demonstrates just how much these materials are needed and how much they are appreciated by Spanish-speaking congregations,” says Patty Shepherd, associate director of advancement and communication of the Department of World Mission.

“The explosive growth in visitors to the Covenant’s online Spanish language content exemplifies one of the strengths of the Internet—a level playing field in which anyone can become a significant player regardless of size,” adds Don Meyer, executive minister of the Department of Communication.

“The Covenant is a relatively small denomination, yet its rich content is obviously meeting an important need,” Meyer says. “The high website traffic count also serves as a reminder of the potential of the Internet and other media tools to more effectively share the good news of Jesus Christ with a global audience.”
