So, you’re registered and you have 4 weeks to pack for CHIC…we’d like to help you pack what you’ll want to be sure to bring along.

As you probably know by now, one of our most fundamental partnerships this year at CHIC will be KARM & here’s a list of items that KARM has identified as needs for both them as an organization serving the homeless population of Knoxville, and the homeless themselves. We are asking that people prayerfully consider donating either money towards these items, or the items themselves and send them with students coming to CHIC. This is an exciting way that whole congregations can connect to and impact the ministry which will occur the week of CHIC.

General Daily Needs

KAT (Knoxville Area Transit) Bus Passes (1 Day passes ONLY)
Travel-size shampoo, conditioner, deodorant & soap
Denture care supplies
Bibles (NIV, Study, New Living, Message)
Socks & Underwear (Men’s & Women’s/All Sizes)
Women’s Underwear (all sizes)
Over-the-counter first aid, cold & flu, & pain relief medication (CANNOT contain alcohol or pseudoephedrine)

Food Items Needed in the Kitchen

 Hamburger and hot dog buns
Fresh Fruits (bananas, oranges, and apples)
Whole potatoes
Ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard packs
Coffee Creamer
Macaroni or Egg Noodles
Tomato Sauce
Spaghetti Sauce
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Small Wares (pairing knives, garlic press, peelers)
Plastic Spoons, Forks, and Knives
Styrofoam Cups (8oz) and Bowls
Paper Napkins

Oh, you were looking for the run-of-the-mill packing list! You can find a downloadable document at CHIC2012.org under the register tab.

What a creative way to lure me into reading about this service opportunity!
I will certainly mention this to our group and see what we can gather!

What an awesome idea! Do we know if they will collect donations at CHIC, or if the groups bringing the donations will be responsible for getting them to KARM? Thanks!
