AVA and Mending the Soul–a partnership to serve the Church!
NEXT MENDING THE SOUL TRAINING: May 4-5, 2012 on the campus of North Park University, Chicago, Illinois. Registration info HERE.
Through a new partnership with Mending the Soul of Phoenix, Arizona, Women Ministries’ AVA (Advocacy for Victims of Abuse) initiative now gears up to launch a vital healing component in addition to its existing education and awareness ministry.
Founded by Steve and Celestia Tracy in 2003, MTS is an independent non-profit organization created to equip church leaders and empower communities for ministry to those impacted by abuse. MTS integrates excellent scientific and social research on abuse and trauma with biblical and theological truth. Designed for small support groups, participants are guided by a facilitator as they work through a book and Scripture-rich workbook to begin a journey of healing from abuse.
Last weekend, 10 AVA Regional Coordinators from Canada, California, Arizona, and Pennsylvania attended MTS Facilitator training at Hope Covenant Church in Chandler, Arizona. They joined over 100 other men and women, all being equipped to serve in this important ministry. The AVA RCs attending the training were excited about having this new healing tool to offer when women and men break silence about their abuse. I can’t wait to see how God uses their training and their efforts!
Our goal is to have 25 MTS facilitators trained and leading groups by the end of 2012. From this small start, we know much powerful healing will come.
I would like to personally invite you to join us in May, here in Chicago, as we train the next group. You can learn more and register online HERE. If you have additional questions, call the Women ministries office at 773-907-3332.
