Orchids have beautiful and fragile blossoms. At least that is how they look.
However in reality they are not as fragile as them seem and they last for weeks. We see this as we walk by the orchids which are flowering one after another on the RFIS veranda. They remind me of our students who show great diversity of culture and life experiences. Sometimes they look weak, but in reality they often exhibit great strength of character and perseverence. They are able to weather the storms of transition and turmoil. At times transitions seem overwhelming and like our transplanted orchids, it takes some months for them to re-estabish themselves and then they begin to bloom again.
Join me in praying that the lives of our students will be both lovely and strong just as the orchids which we admire each day.
