Leopard Rock is a favorite spot of ours, to go for a Sunday drive and eat on the deck of the restaurant that overlooks the gorge. Hornbills hang around in the trees near by, waiting for people to toss them french fries – probably not the best diet for a wild bird, right?
Leopard Rock itself is a rock overhanging a deep gorge, and is so-called because long ago leopards were seen resting there. Now it’s a photo-op; you pay 5 Rand, about 35 cents, and you go take your life into your own hands. Roy and I have always been chicken to go out and pose, but when Mike and Mindy had no qualms about going out on it, we gained the courage to do it. These pictures are NOT photo-shopped. I’m getting butterflies in my stomach just looking at them, remembering what it felt like out on that rock!
