A strangler fig was trying to take over a lovely jacaranda tree on the farm, and Zweli chopped into it to begin the tedious process of removing it. I guess he got distracted by other projects, and just a few days later the fig was sending out roots to recover its position around the tree.
I’m guessing each of you can think of many parallels to this situation in your own lives, something or someone hanging on tenaciously, even after severe treatment, maybe good, maybe evil… I just want to thank God for his creation; inventive, colorful, crazy, wild and wonderful. Each animal or plant being instilled with an instinct to hang on tenaciously to life. I’m reading Genesis and “the Lord saw all that he had made and it was very good!” Boy is it good. We daily enjoy the colors, sights, sounds that God made and we are thankful!
