June 21st we woke up at 4 am to the sound of gentle rain falling. Normally that would be a very welcome sound, but that day was the day of our retirement party, to take place outside. Thankfully the rain lasted only a couple of hours. The CEFA crew had worked hard at creating a protected place, borrowing tarps from everyone they could – this to protect from the sunshine as well as the possibility of rain. As it happened, the sunshine was intense until the afternoon downpour when the party was over. The speakers were protected from the blazing sun by umbrella, and the audience by tarps. The four of us, Roy & I and Benoit & Laurentine, were honored that day, touched by the love and thankfulness expressed of so many in so many ways.
