Luke in South Africa

Our good friend and missionary colleague, Luke Turk, came from Cameroon last week to stay for a short while with us in South Africa.  He had injured his arm in December, had surgery, and because of a concern about the pain and apparent lack of healing, was seeking medical advice from the doctor who so successfully treated Luke’s son last year.  While Luke was with us, he gave a helping hand to Roy for many different projects.  He had to be careful to use only his left hand.  It was a delight to have him around for a bit, not only for his help but because he’s our buddy and we enjoy being together, whether it’s work or games or just chatting about our families and lives.  We look forward to being with Luke and Leanne in CAR when we return the second week of April.  Please pray for the healing of his arm, that the physical therapy exercises will indeed strengthen the muscles and get his whole arm back into shape.  He flew back to Cameroon and he and his family will be returning to Gamboula next week.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
