We’re in Yaounde after a wonderful delay!

Hagia Sophia: a former Greek Orthodox Christian patriarchal basilica built in 536AD, later an Ottoman imperial mosque and now a museum

Roasted corn, just like home!

We were on our way to Africa via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines (why? you ask?  cheapest tickets!) and got delayed.  We missed our flight due to Turkish Air, so they put us up in Istanbul for 24 hours.  What a delightful delay!  A good night’s sleep instead of back to back long flights and a chance to see a bit of Istanbul.  We didn’t have time to actually go inside the Blue Mosque or the Hagia Sofia museum, but it was a lovely day for sightseeing outside.

We arrived to Yaounde just before midnight Saturday, with all our luggage.  We will take at least a couple of days for shopping, and will head to Gamboula probably by Thursday.  Thank you for your prayers for our homegoing journey thus far.  The long drive over some rough roads lies ahead of us.  Thank you for praying for journey mercies for the upcoming trip.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
