Nursery tunnel – done! Yay!

Earlier last year, the tunnel went up, the soon to be home of many baby fruit trees.  The bars and straps and most of the shade cloth went up,

and the original plan was for the last portion of it to be covered in plastic. Roy rethought that idea and decided that he really wanted shadecloth over all!  Lynn and Gary pulled their sewing machine out of storage and sewed two wide strips together
and then I climbed up on scaffolding in order to hand sew those pieces onto the main frame.  FYI, the fencing on the end of the tunnel is to keep the monkeys out!  Those critters tried to wipe out a whole section of papaya seedlings!
And here you have it, shade and wind protection for all those baby trees!  The white section lets in a bit more sunlight for the plants that need more.  It is so cool to see dreams coming true.  The Back to Eden project is on its way!

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
