Coming and going!

Our lives are filled with hellos and goodbyes, tears and smiles.  We always are sad to leave dear friends and family behind and at the same time look forward to being again with dear friends and family where we are headed.  Some have said jokingly that missionary kids are maybe most at home in the air, in the inbetween.  All I have to say is this – as a missionary, I am not at home in the air.  It’s not that it troubles me unduly, as with fear or worry, it’s just that it is not a place I like to be for too long a time.  With my kindle in hand, socks on my feet, and a big warm scarf cum blanket around my shoulders, the time passes.  Sometimes we get the thrill of discovering something new, like a good movie or game on the little screen in front of us (that is if the flight has such a thing).  Most recently, we flew in a plane whose windows didn’t have shades to slide down, there was a button to darken the tint of the window instead!  Everybody say “Whoa, what will they think of next?!?”

blog hello goodbye

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
