It’s been a long while since we’ve had access to regular internet, it’s great to be back in touch! Lots of things have happened since we last posted something, but because our internet is still very slow and because we are, as usual, very busy, we’ll catch up one day at a time! Just for your amusement, you can see today that the termites around here don’t take a rest or go offline, they just keep building, different types of termites in all sorts of ways!
First, here’s a corner in our bedroom by the door that leads directly outside. Normally the termites’ tunnels run flat along walls, but does this one make you think you’re in Zion and Bryce or Natural Arches Park or something? After taking the photo, I realized how very badly our bedroom needs a paint job, but remember this is Africa!! We clean up termites like this inside the house pretty often – our walls are old mud brick and the termites love that, eating the wood supports and then happily making their way up or over or through the mud and cement. Yikes.
Here’s a typical out-in-the-garden type of termite home:
