What fun to be with Janet, Paul, and Erin. Laughing, telling old family stories, playing Boake Carter, Star Reporter and Pit, and eating Janet’s amazing cooking! Erin was able to come hang out with us, leaving her family in Colorado Springs for a few days.
This is just one of the many beautiful flowers in their garden.
We hiked a short path up to lovely waterfalls just outside of Ouray, after browsing in the shops alongthe main street.
As if we hadn’t had enough yummy food and family fun, Janet made pelmeny, a marvelous Russian sort of ravioli. Oh my oh my, cheese and onions and vinegar make it one of my favorite dishes. Others mess it up with sour cream and dill and such, and Roy even put hot sauce on it!!!! Yikes!!! Our Russian grandmother, Baba, used to make it, along with some other yummy ethnic dishes like piroshki, etc. Gene, in the picture below, is Baba’s son, and dad to my half-sis, Kristen sitting with him. If you say the word pelmeny anywhere in the Grand Junction and Montrose, CO, vicinity, I’m thinking that Gene will be at your doorstep, he loves the stuff as much as I do! Janet is a trooper, making the pelmeny one by one, taking about 1/2 day to create what gets demolished in 15 minutes!! Thank you, Janet!! And Kris, too, for making delicious borscht!
We had a great time and it was too short! Thanks, Lundeens, for everything!
