Ready to roll! So what if we don’t have our truck here!

We have left our truck just across the river in Cameroon, as we do not yet trust the state of the whole country.  If we just considered our little town and the immediate area surrounding it, we’d use it freely, but…   We have been encouraged by seeing quite a few vehicles coming and going this past week, so things are looking up!

In the last container, which arrived just the week before we had to leave the country, we received two bikes, that we ordered, plus a gift bike from the bike shop!  Thank you again Bob Bennet for handling the order and Jim Bluege for the gift bike!  They are a huge help to get around from place to place quickly.  Aleta has high hopes of using hers to get back and forth from the farm to the hospital.  A 5 kilometer ride, about 45 minutes.

Roy has made a box for hauling stuff, and of course the main “stuff” will be something to do with farming and orchards. (o;

Here’s Aleta all ready to visit her Fulani buddies, hitching a ride with Roy downtown.  Note the long pants under the skirt wrap, a bit unconventional but it sure helped with modesty.  The motorcycle helmet got left with the motorcycle, but the scarf went along for the visit, again a matter of modesty with the Fulani.  The ride is about 4 kilometers to their part of town, and more hilly than the road to the farm, so a ride is greatly appreciated.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
