Morland was one of the first people I met at North Park. He was a dishwasher, and I was a waitress and dish wiper. When I just began as a waitress,I spilled creamed dry beef down a guy’s back. I ran back and sat on the steps and cried. Morland came and got me, told me he had cleaned up the spill, and that I HAD to come back and finish serving that table. He was my friend for life! He was always kind and helpful.

We became friends while singing in the college choir. On tour through Upper Michigan I commented on the beauty of the woods in my part of the state. From Kansas, he commented, “What a waste. That could be planted in corn.” How differently we can see life while appreciatring God’s creative genius. Warren W. Lindstrom
