CHICAGO, IL (July 30, 2010) – A new Covenant iPhone application is now available free through the Apple iTunes Store that allows users to check the daily Covenant Newswire online news report and locate Covenant churches throughout North America using a mapping feature.

“We’re excited with this latest development and looking forward to feedback from our users,” says Don Meyer, executive minister of the Department of Communication of the Evangelical Covenant Church. “As mobile technology continues to advance, we will be adding more features to the app over time.”

“We’ve come a long way in our 125 years,” notes Ben Eash, the department’s director of Interactive Services that includes the Internet, mobile technology and social networking activities. “The Mission Friends may never have imagined that we would be able to get national Covenant news and find contact information for every Covenant church on a telephone.”

To access the free iPhone application, search for “covchurch” either within the app store (on your mobile device) or directly within the iTunes Store and it should be the only item to come up. A link to the application and more information can be found here.

A user survey link also will be found in the lower right area of the mobile application page – users are encouraged to provide feedback.

The Covenant application was developed by Jason Terhorst.
