And just like that, we have begun our travels and visits to supporting churches. After landing in Minnesota and having a couple weeks to get settled and deal with the logistics of a new home and international move, we were on the road. Our first stop – Chicago.
On Sunday we visited Winnetka Covenant Church and as we set up our display table and walked into the sanctuary, our eldest son quietly whispered, “And so it begins…” It has been a couple of years since we have been on ECC Ministry Assignment, but it still feels familiar as we are greeted by loving congregations and are welcomed into communities who want to learn more about Colombia and the ministry there. Julio and I co-preached and I was able to share with the children during a teaching moment. We also got to give hugs and have lunch with a small group of people after the service, where we shared great conversation and yummy pizza.
While one of our kids is at camp, the rest of us are in Chicago, taking some time to see explore the city we love, see friends, and for Julio to work on his research and writing.
This coming Sunday we will get in the car and drive just a few hours away to Sheboygan, where we will once again be received with hospitality and care. It’s always fun to connect with old friends and meet new ones. During the year there will be quite a few of these trips, though we won’t be able to do all of them as a family. Some times it will be Julio or myself or both of us. We are in the midst of setting up our schedule and appreciate the enthusiasm with which churches have reached out to find a time for our visit. Thank you! And thanks for your patience as we get all the details in place. We appreciate your prayers as we navigate this time of coordinating life and travel.
