In the past, before the pandemic, we would host groups and teams from you USA on a regular basis. The last church team that came to visit and serve was here right before the country shut down in March 2020. We have been looking forward to welcoming teams again and we finally had that opportunity. In July we received a team from Faith Covenant Church in Wheaton, Illinois. A small team came down to see and learn first-hand about the ministry of the Covenant in Colombia, as well as that of the Biblical Seminary of Colombia.
They support two missionaries families connected with the Seminary and were excited to connect with them and see the place they have studied and serve. So, the week was an opportunity for them to interact with Covenant ministries, leaders, pastors, including Fuente de Salvacion Covenant Church and the Community Transformation for Peace project. On Sunday after church they came over for lunch at our house with our global personnel colleagues and then for dessert 15 of the people who studied in the Covenant’s certificate programs joined us. It was a great time of conversation around the role of theological education, local leadership, the local church, future plans for continued training, etc. The dialogue was rich and there were many points that the visitors and students shared in common. We also visitied one of the communities in Medellin that has experienced transformation through art and hip hop culture and did a day trip to a nearby town.
We are grateful for the team that came and the ways they so generously listened, participated, served, and blessed others.
