We are very thankful to have medical care at a moment’s notice. Dr. Tim is always available for emergencies and medical treatment and advice. He is the proverbial boy scout when it comes to being prepared, that’s for sure, with various medical supplies he keeps at his home. I haven’t seen a magical black doctor’s bag, but he does have a brown briefcase that serves him well, strapped on to his 4 wheeler’s carrying rack. He is usually able to come up with what he needs at the spur of the moment. We do have the hospital with a good staff and pretty decent equipment, but why walk all the way to the hospital with a deep gash on your leg when you can pop next door and get excellent treatment with someone who speaks your mother tongue? Luke Turk brought his sons and their friends home from high school in Yaounde last week, and while on the way noticed that the washing machines and trunks of belongings strapped on top of the truck were shifting. He climbed up there, in the rain, and while readjusting the load, the trunk under his feet tipped and he fell, gouging his leg on something on the way down. As soon as they got to Gamboula, Luke was quickly taken care of by Dr. Tim, using his dining room table as the treatment site. 7 stitches later, Luke was able to go home and rest after a full day’s drive.
Thank you, Lord, for Dr. Tim and others who are at the ready when we need them!
