Lucy and Jenny

Matron Lucy and Dr. Gilpin

There are many unsung heroes at the Genesis Care Centre where I volunteer, but I’ll just write about the two I consistently work with.  Lucy is the director of nursing, and Jenny is her administrative assistant.  They work tirelessly, oftentimes way beyond their stipulated hours, to help keep the care centre running smoothly; or, in other words, to keep patient care at its best.  I love to work with these two ladies, easing their load a bit so they can finish all that they need to do.  It blesses me no end to see Lucy in the wards, interacting with patients and their families or to see the smile on Jenny’s face as background support work gets done quicker than she anticipated.  Please pray for these two and the rest of the Care Centre staff, that the Lord would be glorified and that the people they serve would find healing and peace.

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
