To those who are carrying a precious burden of a baby

This is for Kimia Joy and others who are waiting for new family members to come into the world.  Are you feeling as big as a truck?  Are you dragging?  Do you feel like just about all you can do is sit?  CHEER UP!!!!   It could be worse!!!!  Look at another pregnant member of God’s crazy wonderful creation!  I hope this makes you smile, Kimia!!!  I love you and can’t wait to see you!

You can see her tiny little brown self carrying the humongous, undulating egg sac!

You won’t find these little ladies just lying about under trees or even in your wood door frames.  The reason Timothy has this one in his hand is because it provides proof that the workers who were digging up the termite colony out of the middle of the road

The colony is a huge network below these holes

found the queen and extracted her.  When the queen is gone, the colony dies out, which means the workers succeeded in digging out and cleaning up that particular patch of road.  What did we do with this queen (and 5 others)?   Roy fried them up and he and the Turk boys enjoyed them as tasty tidbits during our meal of chili and cornbread.

Other than the fact that these colonies mess up the roads and breed wood destroying creatures, we like to get rid of them because the tunnels underground provide lovely homes for wandering snakes.  Not good, right?, especially if they’re of the poisonous persuasion, which most snakes around here seem to be.  Okay, okay, there are beautiful little blue green non-poisonous tree snakes that unmercifully get slaughtered by the locals, but painful experience tells them that snakes kill and maim with their poison, so they kill anything snake shaped, including harmless millipedes!

Do you have anything snake shaped in your life?  Get rid of it before it poisons your heart!

About danforth

As Covenant missionaries, we are working with all the tribal groups of the Central African Republic (CAR) but are trying to give special attention to the Fulani, a Musxlim, cattle herding, and semi-nomadic people group. We live on an experimental/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. Due to the ongoing conflict and resultant ethnic cleansing in CAR, we are crossing the border to interact with our Fulani contacts.
