One of the great joys of teaching secondary students is watching them grow towards independence.  It is always a process and sometimes seems to be fairly convoluted – sort of like a winding river which you know is headed to the sea but at times appears to be headed in the wrong direction.

Getting ready to face the world away from RFIS, family and all that is familiar is an important part of the education our students receive.     For some students this involves learning to study independently, mastering the art of cooking meals that are nutritionally sound as well as filling on a student budget, or even learning to follow directions in the Chemistry lab.

This also involves learning to fill out forms for taking external exams and college applications, which are preparation to filling out job applications and tax forms.
