A 2007 article in the Los Angeles Times featured Scholer for the way he continued to inspire students and others despite his illness. The paper published another article today.
Scholer taught at Fuller Theological Seminary the past 14 years. He delivered a sermon entitled “It Is about God…Not about Us” at the school’s baccalaureate service in June. Speaking from a seated position, Scholer declared that “God has chosen to use fragile human instruments for God’s glory.” It can be viewed at a Facebook page established by his friends.
Scholer was born July 24, 1938, in Rochester, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette, and two daughters, Emily Hernandez and Abigail Strazzabosco.
