GREEN LAKE, IL (June 25, 2008) – Glenn R. Palmberg has been named President Emeritus of the Evangelical Covenant Church in an action taken by the Executive Board during its meeting Monday.

In this role, Palmberg will serve in four key areas:
•    Fund-raising for general operations, North Park Theological Seminary scholarships, the Paul Carlson Partnership, donor interest areas, the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence initiative, and donor relations with the newly elected president
•    Representing the denomination this coming year on the Alliance to End Hunger, which is part of Bread for the World
•    Speaking assignments, representing the denomination
•    Other special assignments as requested by the newly elected president

These areas will be reviewed after one year and a determination made at that time concerning further service. Expenses will be covered, but no additional financial reimbursement will be provided.

“We are grateful to have the willingness of Glenn Palmberg to continue to serve in the role of President Emeritus,” states presidential nominee Gary Walter in the recommendation to the Executive Board. “These areas seem to best match his passions with our own ongoing needs.”
