CHICAGO, IL (June 6, 2008) – Hardly a week goes by that we do not receive a few comments from readers on stories published as part of the Covenant online news report.

We will share from time to time some of those responses generated through the “comments” link attached to each published story. This kind of feedback is very helpful to our Covenant News Service staff as we seek to identify and publish stories of great interest to a broad spectrum of online readers of this report.

Following are comments relating to recently published stories, edited in some cases for length. To read a particular story of interest, click on the headline.

Covenant Church’s Prayer Initiative Sparks Global Interest

Denise Erickson of Brooklyn Center, MN, writes: It’s good to display Christ’s love . . . in fact, he requires it of us. But I hope the One Prayer organizers misspeak when they say, “What if we stopped talking about Jesus and instead displayed His love . . . ?” I hope they meant, “What if we stopped JUST talking about Jesus . . .?” Sometimes I wonder if the gospel message gets lost amidst the flurry of social justice and mission activity.

Mysterious Loss of Bees Threatens Agriculture, Economy

David Lundblad of St. Catharines, Ontario, writes: Up here where we live in the Niagara peninsula, I have several friends who are mourning the loss of beehives and what that will do to the future. I wonder if the same problem exists in Europe?

Baked Bread Supports Single-Parent Family Ministry

Christopher McCluskey of Edgar Springs, MO, writes: This is a beautiful testimony to not only the ministry of Dan Lundblad and Bridge Builders, but to the true servant heart we are all to have as Christians! I know Dan well through the world of Christian coaching and I am excited to see him expanding his impact beyond the more “reactive” work of counseling into the more “proactive” and visionary work of life coaching. I know that many will benefit from this new service. As Scripture teaches, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Daniel is counseling those who minister to so many who feel they are perishing. Now, through life coaching, he can also help people clarify vision so they don’t fall into a state of “perishing” in the first place! May the Lord continue to bless his faithfulness.

Jan and Bob Thornbloom of Chicago, IL, write: Thanks for bringing Dan Lundblad’s Bridge Building ministry to the attention of Covenanters. We salute Dan’s devotion through a unique and sustainable method of relating to those who struggle to keep their families together in a world that often ignores or forgets them.

Weborg Lecture to Explore Heritage of Pietism

Rebecca Worl of Maple Valley, WA, writes: I am wondering if there is a transcript available of this lecture that I could use for a paper I am writing for my Fuller NW class – regarding Pietism and the Covenant Church. Could you let me know where I could find it?
