DES MOINES, IA (June 5, 2008) – Urban Heights Evangelical Covenant Church recently hosted an evening of discussion with refugees from Darfur. The refugees discussed why they left Darfur and why others remain in the country, as well as the current political situation.

The event gave the audience an opportunity to ask questions and learn how the refugees escaped the war-torn country. The refugees expressed their gratitude for the generosity shown them since they arrived in Iowa.

Inauguration of Garden of Eden Church Celebrated

YAUTEPEC, MEXICO – More than 100 people celebrated the inauguration of the Garden of Eden Covenant Church into the Evangelical Covenant Mission Church of Mexico (IEMP) on May 24.

The gathering, which included children as well as adults, represented churches throughout the Central District of Mexico. IEMP President Dr. Alfonso Perez Parra delivered the sermon. Also participating in the service was Fransisco Ruiz, pastor, who has been instrumental in planting churches in the State of Morelos, where Yautepec is located. He also is the owner of the auditorium in which the new church meets.

Rochester (MN) Church to Mark 50 Years of Ministry

ROCHESTER, MN – The Rochester Covenant Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary during a “Legacy Weekend” September 27-28.

Dr. G. Timothy Johnson will be the keynote speaker at a dinner on September 27 and will preach during two worship services the next day. Johnson is an ordained Evangelical Covenant Church pastor, author, and ABC News medical editor.
