Building the capacity of Congolese leaders

CEUM leaders: Rev. Mbewa, VP Vungbo, Covenant missionary Sheryl Noren, Dr. Lingili, Rev. Kikwiti and Rev. Sabuli

It was just two weeks ago that President Mboka made a bold decision to support building the capacity of the leadership of the CEUM.  President Mboka had selected five leaders to attend the Leadership Matters Course in Yaounde, Cameroon.  All five registered and wanted to go, but we only had funding for three of them.  The president decided that the CEUM would commit to sending the other 2 leaders.  I worked quickly with a travel agent and our Congolese colleagues in Kinshasa to arrange their visas and travel.  All 5 arrived fine in Yaounde and started their coursework on January 27.

Colleague Janet Ziegelbaur in Cameroon has a great blog post, “Leadership Matters” to the Congo Covenant, about the course including pictures and comments from the participants.  Thanks Janet.

As Janet comments, President Mboka “understands the importance of this training, and made the decision that all 5 participants should come, even though the trip was not yet fully funded. ”

If you would like to contribute towards training these leaders, please send a check written to “Evangelical Covenant Church” indicate on memo line: #5003-2056-72-30, Leadership Matters
