Want to host a Hope Sunday for Covenant Kids Congo at your church? Follow these steps!
1. Sign up online at CovChurch.org/CovenantKidsCongo.
2. Review the CKC resources on our website. If you would like to invite a Covenant Kids Congo speaker to preach for your Hope Sunday, please contact us 3-4 months ahead of time.
3. Recruit volunteers to staff your sponsorship table. Your volunteers will set up the table on your Hope Sunday, answer questions, and collect sponsorships. Read this blog post about how to set up the sponsorship table. Then, when you’re ready, print or email this How to Run the Sponsorship Table handout to share with your volunteers.
4. Announce your Hope Sunday in the 2-3 weeks leading up to your Hope Sunday. Play a short video with each announcement. These three short videos are great for announcements: Denee’s Sponsorship Story, Jerry’s Sponsorship Story, and Bright Hopes for the Children of Congo.
5. Decide what other video(s) you will play. We recommend that you play a CKC video during your Hope Sunday service, like The Impact of Sponsorship video featuring 10-year-old Deborah or What I’ve Seen in Congo featuring Pastor Greg Krieger.
Other new CKC videos include Women’s Agricultural Groups, Women’s Savings Groups, and Clean Water for Congo.
6. Have your Hope Sunday! Your sermon is a great time to tell your congregation about the Covenant’s relationship with Congo and to encourage them to sponsor a child. At the very end of the service, invite everyone to stop by the sponsorship table.
IMPORTANT: New sponsors MUST turn in their sponsorship card at the sponsorship table before they take a picture folder home. Each picture folder represents a real child who is waiting to be sponsored right now! If a picture folder is lost, that can delay how long it takes for that child to be sponsored. 7. When you’re done, send both the completed sponsorships and the extra picture folders back to World Vision. You can use the large business reply envelopes that came in your Hope Sunday kit.
