CHICAGO, IL (September 4, 2012) – Bethany Benefit Service medical enrollees will again be able to purchase medications from Walgreens beginning September 15.

Enrollees include Evangelical Covenant Church pastors, missionaries, and employees of Covenant offices and some affiliated entities. Express Scripts is the pharmacy benefit manager on behalf of the Bethany Benefit Service medical program.

“We’re very pleased Walgreens and Express Scripts have come to an agreement and look forward to the added convenience this brings to our cardholders,” said Christina Kempe, benefits coordinator for Bethany.

Walgreens, the nation’s largest drugstore, and Express Scripts had separated at the beginning of the year when they failed to reach agreement on a new prescription reimbursement rate structure. They recently agreed to a multi-year deal, although terms were not announced.

Most analysts believe Walgreens suffered a loss of approximately $4 billion in revenue.
