Bio

Spiritual journey: I grew up in Vancouver, WA in a Christian home that was very dedicated to the church. I spent all 18 years of my life in Vancouver attending and serving After a few years of rotating youth pastors my parents took over leading the youth ministry. Talk about awkward! Later in high school we found a middle age guy to serve as youth pastor and he mentored me for the rest of my time. He is one of the reasons I went into youth ministry. He gave me opportunities to lead, grace when I failed, and was a consistent role model. I aspire to be a leader like he was to me.

Call to ministry: I attended George Fox University in Newberg, OR and received a degree in Christian Ministry. I very quickly got plugged into Countryside Community Church just East in Sherwood, CO and was introduced to the Evangelical Covenant. I spent four years interning and then three years as their Middle School Director after college. I left their in pursuit of a girl and ended up happily married in Arvada, CO since January 2010. I recently finished up my time at Christ Community Covenant Church as their youth pastor and am pursuing my Masters of Theology from George Fox Seminary online while searching for employment teaching Bible. My goal is to continue teaching in a setting with youth as my students.

I am passionate about: My passion for studying the Word and gift of teaching have met and ignited a fire within me. One of the reasons I love teaching youth is because I can get them excited about the Bible. It’s important to me that the students I teach desire to learn more. I love to teach directly from passages of scripture and show people how they are still valid truth for today. I teach in a way that encourages action because I believe it is vital that we apply what we learn and use it for the Kingdom.

What do you think is important that we know about you, as a member of the Speaker Team? I’m a pretty laid back guy. Very flexible and patient. 10 years in youth ministry tend to do that. I’m good with both middle and high school students. I love the awkwardness of middle school and helping them learn that their identity should come from Christ and not their peers. With high school age I like to challenge their thinking so they have thought about the tough questions before they leave our care. All in all, I just want to teach the Word to our youth and help them find a passion for following Christ with their life.
