Marti Burger was attending a meeting last week where she was introduced to the President of Groundwire, Sean Dunn. Sean is a gifted communicator who partners with religious organizations to assist them with camps, conferences, retreats, youth weekends, spiritual emphasis weeks, chapel services, missions training, outreaches, youth ministry, training and consulting, radio programs, television ministry, outreaches and crusades. To put it simply, we leverage mainstream media to communicate the message of Christ. By buying time on TV outlets (MTV, Vh1, Comedy Central, Adult Swim) and top radio stations (hip-hop, country, rock, and alternative, we can keep positive, Christ-focused messages in the heart of the media. Each commercial plants a seed or shares a thought filled with hope. They are relevant and well-produced. But, each commercial also invites the viewer/listener “to chat with someone who cares.” At this point, Groundwire has the only 24 hour a day coaching/counseling piece that is web driven. There are others in the same space, but I believe we are the only one up and running every day, all day. The anonymity of the Internet make it an effective tool for those seeking, hurting, or asking questions. We are an evangelistic tool but we do deal with felt needs. Everything from suicide, cutting, to relationship issues. And a lot of people come on line because they know something is missing, but they just don’t know what…but, of course we do.
This is a very effective tool and one that we are able to offer to other ministries to increase the effectiveness of outreaches and websites. It turns any website from a monologue into a dialogue with trained coaches who are monitored to make sure things stay on track.
