Today I really felt like I had the privilege of being part of a very special historical moment for our Congo Covenant Church as I marched with a crowd of hundreds (probably over a thousand) people following Rev. Sanguma (Congo Church President) and Rev. Gary Walter (President of the U.S. Evangelical Covenant Church) as we all entered the grounds of the church headquarters at Bokonzo/Gemena.  This event has been the main focus of attention since before we arrived back in Congo on July 30th.  The atmosphere has been ‘abuzz’ with all sorts of preparation from landscaping to making special outfits.  Pastors have come from all over the Ubangi region to hear Gary speak.  In his opening message he spoke of the “great church” God has established here in Congo and the great message of Good News in Christ we can all share with others.  He ‘brought the house down’ by closing with the Lingala blessing “Nzambe apambola bino!”….God bless you.

In the photo Pres. Sanguma is at the center in purple clerical garb and Pres. Walter is just to the right.
