SANTA BARBARA, CA (December, 1998) – Ever thought about worshiping on a sunny, sandy beachfront? That’s exactly what the Ocean Hills Covenant Church is doing in Santa Barbara these days.
This new congregation, located directly across the street from the beach area, held its third “preview Sunday” recently, attracting some 200 adults and 40 children. A “preview Sunday” is designed to introduce interested individuals to a newly established congregation. This new church plant will begin regular weekly worship on Super Bowl Sunday, meeting in the Veterans Memorial Building located at 112 Cabrillo in Santa Barbara. The church may be contacted by calling 805-965-9283.
“So, if you’d like to tell your family or pastor that you’re going to the beach on Sunday morning, stop by at 9:30 a.m. to worship and fellowship,” a church spokesperson said. Ocean Hills Covenant Church is a result of the Household Support Program sponsored by Montecito Covenant Church, the Pacific Southwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, and Covenant offices in Chicago. The new church plant reflects the “Churches Planting Churches – Our Soul Concern” theme of the Household Support Program.
Churches interested in participating in church planting efforts are encouraged to contact Don Fensterman, project manager of Churches Planting Churches, in Chicago by calling 773-907-3379.
