Rask was born August 15, 1919, in Springfield, Massachusetts, and grew up attending the Evangelical Covenant Church.
He earned an associate’s degree at North Park College in 1941 and a Bachelor’s in Religion degree at Augustana College in 1944. He graduated from North Park Theological Seminary in 1946.
Rask married his wife, June, in October 1947.
Rask served churches on the East Coast and Midwest, including Evangelical Covenant Church (now Flossmoor) in Chicago Heights, Illinois; Evangelical Covenant Church in South Bend, Indiana; Covenant Congregational Church (now Trinity Covenant) in Manchester, Connecticut; Covenant Congregational Church (now East Bridgewater) in Brockton, Massachusetts; First Covenant Church in Jamestown, New York; and Bethlehem Covenant Church, in Worcester, Massachusetts.
