CHICAGO, IL (November 24, 2009) – Shoppers seeking incredible bargains on Christmas presents will endure standing in line for hours during the early morning hours of Black Friday, but there is no waiting for people seeking life-giving opportunities through the Evangelical Covenant Church.

CalendarGifts that will help feed, educate, provide healthcare, and empower some of the poorest people in the world are available through Covenant World Mission, Paul Carlson Partnership (PCP) and Covenant World Relief. Gift possibilities include livestock, physical education equipment, salaries for teachers, and bed nets that can keep people safe from malaria-carrying mosquitoes.

The Paul Carlson Partnership has published a full-color 9-inch by 12-inch wall calendar that offers a unique visual window into the Democratic Republic of Congo. PCP staff and volunteers on working trips snapped the photographs. Brief quotations that accompany the photos come from a variety of sources, from PCP staff to international agency officials. The calendar can be purchased through the online Covenant Bookstore – click here to order.

Many of the gifts will go toward long-term projects, but Covenant World Relief also is raising funds to provide immediate relief to people in Sudan and Ethiopia. For more information, click here.
