LAKE GENEVA, WI (September 30, 2009) – Anchor Covenant Church, which has met at the YMCA since 2003, will hold the first service in their new home at 5 p.m. Sunday.

They will meet in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 715 Wisconsin St. – members of that church unanimously voted to invite Anchor to use the building. David Strang, former dean of students at North Park University, is pastor of the Congregational church.

“Even though the ‘Y’ has been very good to work with, we felt that growth would not continue in that limited meeting place,” says church member David Auker, who also is the former executive director at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp and Retreat Center. “The Congregational church provides a beautiful sanctuary, rooms for Sunday school and offices and meetings during the week.”

Anchor Covenant members met in the boathouse at Covenant Harbor for several summers. They decided in 2003 to meet year-round as a church.
