PORTLAND, OR (September 4, 2009) – First Covenant Church will host an “Advocacy for Victims of Abuse (AVA) Round Table” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 22.

Debbie Marr, North Pacific Conference AVA coordinator, will discuss the Department of Women Ministries program, how domestic violence affects individual churches, and how each congregation can address the issue.

Lunch will be served and pre-registration is required. The event is free. For more information or to register, call Lori Rice in the church office at 503-238-5950.

Churches Hold Joint Worship Service in Park

OBERLIN, KS – Three Evangelical Covenant Churches from northwest Kansas joined together for worship in the city park here this past Sunday.

Participating churches were Herndon Covenant Church, Lund Covenant Church of Dresden, and Oberlin Covenant Church.

Herndon Pastor Keith Reuther shared a message while Oberlin pastors Sharon and Chris Nelson (Oberlin) assisted in the service, and Lund Pastor Doug Mason assembled a worship band with members from each church.

Oakdale Event To Focus on Navigating Transitions

CHICAGO, IL – Oakdale Covenant Church will host “Navigating the Transition Zone Roundtable” October 6-7. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 6, and from 8 a.m. to noon on October 7.

Oakdale Pastor Darrell Griffin describes the Transition Zone as the “place prior to the change in pastor leadership between where a congregation is and where it needs to be to ensure its future.”

Speakers will include Doug Bixby, pastor of Attleboro Evangelical Covenant Church in Attleboro, Massachusetts; and Russ Olman, president of Ministry Advantage, a ministry coaching organization.

The event also will feature a session on Building a Better Team through use of the enneagram.

Seating is limited to 40 participants, and registration is $299. To register, visit the church website.
