Two Memorial Services Planned for Annette Knofel

SEWARD, AK (August 4, 2009) – Two memorial services are planned for Annette (Smith) Knofel, 59, wife of Evangelical Covenant Church Pastor Bruce Knofel, who was killed July 26 in a traffic accident near Anchorage.

The first service will be conducted at 4 p.m. August 10 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 400 Third Avenue, in Seward. Another memorial service will be held later in the month in Seattle.

Bruce Knofel suffered multiple injuries in the accident, which occurred when the driver of a pickup truck swerved into oncoming traffic and struck couple’s vehicle. The date for the memorial service in Seattle will be set when he is able to travel.

Annette Knofel was born November 1, 1949. The couple married June 10, 1972.

The Knofels ministered at Covenant Congregational Church in Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Community Covenant Church in Redmond, Washington; and Newport Covenant Church in Bellevue, Washington.

In addition to her husband, Knofel is survived by two children, Sarah Mangum of Woodland, California, and Daniel Knofel of Glen Allen, Virginia.
