Thousands of Students Heading for CHIC 2009 in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, TN (July 10, 2009) – Tons of equipment is being moved and assembled, volunteers are arriving from around the country, and activity sites are being readied as final preparations near completion to welcome more than 5,200 students plus their adult leaders for CHIC 2009: Undone.

CHIC begins Sunday and runs through Friday, centered on the campus of the University of Tennessee. Teens are coming from around the world to attend.

The week will include well-known speakers and bands, workshops, excursions, inspiring worship services and various surprise activities.

Speakers will include Shane Claiborne, one of the founders of Simple Way, a Philadelphia inner-city monastic community; Steven Furtick, lead pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina; Erwin McManus, author and filmmaker; Judy Peterson, North Park University campus pastor; and Efrem Smith, pastor of Sanctuary Covenant Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Bands and musicians will include Salvador, Israel Houghton and the New Breed, the David Crowder Band, Flyleaf, and Third Day.
